TED is a nonprofit organization that is devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. TED started as a single conference in 1984 for discussion on Technology, Entertainment and Design and is now recognized as an international platform for powerful conversation, delivered in over 110 languages and under 18 minutes.
TEDx is a grassroots initiative that provides local communities with opportunities to organize independent TED-style events. TEDx has provided mentorship in multiple areas such as event organization, participant experience, speaker coaching and much more.

Founded in 2011, TEDxUW is the University of Waterloo's official TEDx experience. It is one in a series of 3,000+ events being held worldwide as part of the international TED movement to create open platforms for riveting ideas to be shared with the world.
With TEDxUW talks published on TED.com and ammassing over 5 million views on YouTube and other websites, TEDxUW sparks innovation starting from corners of the globe and beyond our conference date.
Our greatest desire is to bring together the brightest minds of the University of Waterloo in order to build an engaged community of change-makers, dedicated to sharing ideas worth spreading to a world audience of nearly 300 million people.
